Camp Sabros - Sitio Baras, Kapatagan, Digos City, Davao del Sur. This is one of the
adventures during my short vacation in our province. At last, my mission was done, I already conquered my fear of heights and now I am brave enough to dare any zip ride. My next target will be at the famous eco adventure at Danao, Bohol…. hmmm you’re in the line. Anyway the name Camp Sabros is from a coined word meaning Sacdalan Brothers, established on year 1994 I think and I learned that one of the owners is a former active mountaineer in Davao. The place is found up in the cool highlands of Kapatagan, Digos City and obviously the place is very cold even that we’re strolling at around 2pm and also we observed some rainshowers which is normal in the place.
This trip was decided by me, after I saw Dyan Castillejo on her famous adventure tv program (Sports Unlimited) every Saturday on ABS-CBN. After I saw and heard that they are screaming out of hell and wow they said that it’s an amazing experience. So, during our short vacation, me and my girlfriend (which is also an adventure fanatic, thanks God hehe) we gave it one day out our very limited time. She immediately
contacted his former classmate on college and now he’s one of the faculties in SPAMAST-Mati, Digos to accompany with us. Hmmm.. I also knew him, that he’s a certified adventurous, so we set to met him at Digos terminal at exactly 9am. After some chicka2x galore, we immediately took a ride on a Van (no other means of transportation, except if you gamble on the motorcylcle, commonly known as habal2x). The travel took approximately 1 hr. and 30 mins.
At around 1pm we landed at Kapatagan and we’re so impressed with captivating view
of nature, one of them is gigantic peak of famous Mt. Apo (for the mountaineers, there is also a jump off point in Kapatagan which the said that you can pass lots of waterfalls along the trail and Sumagaya Falls is also found in Kapatagan). The temperature is below from the usual and I was amazed while breathing the fresh air. By the way, just inform the driver that you will disembark at the crossing Camp Sabros, this place is very known to all locals there. You’ll need to hike uphill for about 700 meters according to their streamer. But if you feel lazy, you can also ride a horse for only Php 30.00 but we don’t take a horseback riding coz we want to enjoy and feel that we are on the place that we are dreaming for a quiet long time. And yes, we are greeted with the fresh and cool air with the matching lovely sound of nature through the leaves of pine trees. The place is A+ for me, and for a typical nature lover….we never rush to ride instead we stroll around the place and took some pictures while observing those are screaming while they were flying and ala Superman. Past 3pm, we
decided to take the ride… it was lil bit nervous but still we’re so eager I think it’s a mixed emotions of excitement and tense. Me and my girlfriend decided to fly together… and yes it’s a great..great experience, we got hang.. I told to myself on not to scream… but when we’re in the middle where you can see the trees are like toys… seems by that time, I can’t control myself to scream…. Hehehe…. What a great experience we had.
