Sometimes we missed the life of our childhood, of being simple and contented; maybe this is the reason why opt to take some time to reminisce those things in our home. I was raised and grown up in family that full of responsibility and discipline, instead of love but they said the discipline is also a part of showing their love. But I never regret on my parents on how they make their own way of showing that they cared us. I’m not belong to those lucky people, who were with golden spoon, they never experienced on what I have done. Though, we’re living in a very simple lifestyle, just simply imagine that no electricity at that time, in short no appliances except for a transistor radio (is it considered as an appliance?) hehe, still I’m happy and contented since that’s all my parents can offer, I’ll never feel embarrassed yet I am proud. But behind those things, instead of losing my hope, I started to build up and live for my dream and thanks God for helping me.
My hometown is located at the heart.. awwss.. at the southernmost of Mindanao , one of the seven municipalities of Saranga Province which is Malungon, away from those never ending gunfight of government soldiers against NPA, MILF,Abu Sayyaf and so called Lost Command. I never heard of any casualty in our place out of gun fighting, meaning that we belong to a community of peace loving people. Aside from that, which is the one that I must be proud of, since our place is rich on agricultural products so vegetables and fruits are very affordable, just imagine the banana can be bought by Php 7.00/kilo, squash for Php 6.00/kilo, carrots for Php 10.00/kilo….. name a place where you can compete those prices.
